Board of Education Meeting Highlights
The Kelso C-7 Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting on March 10, 2025. Here are the key takeaways from the meeting:

Agenda & Approvals

  • The agenda was approved as presented.

  • The consent agenda, including the approval of January meeting minutes, expenditures, and the treasurer's report, was also approved.

Community Engagement

  • Gina Jaynes addressed the Board regarding educational guardianship if a family moves out of the district.

  • Two Minutes of Good: 7th and 8th Grade Homeroom Teachers, Penny Hale and Kamryn Graviett, shared positive highlights from their classrooms.

Board Decisions & Updates

  • Athletic Cooperative Agreement: The Board approved the MSHAA athletic cooperative agreement with Scott County R-IV for the 2025-2026 school year.

  • 2025-2026 School Calendar: The Board approved the upcoming school year’s calendar. The calendar can be found on the District's website unded the District Calendars tabs.

  • Policy Review: The Board reviewed Policy 5550, Regulation 2785, and the Allowability and Procurement Plan.

  • Safety Updates: Information regarding ongoing safety measures was shared with the Board.

  • Program Evaluations: The Board received evaluations for Instructional Resources, Curriculum, and Library/Media Services.

  • Local Assessment Plan Update: The Board approved an update to the standardized test version in the District’s Local Assessment Plan.

  • SEMO Educators Advantage Program: The Board approved the District’s participation in this program, supporting educator benefits and resources.

Administrative Reports

  • Principal’s Report Highlights:

    • Recognized students for Positive Office Referrals.

    • Provided updates on Administration and Special Education activities.

  • Superintendent’s Report Highlights:

    • Updates on CSIP/District Report Card.

    • Financial overview and legislative updates.

    • Discussion on facility requests and campaign updates.

    • Health insurance review.

Staffing Decisions
The Board approved probationary contracts for the following certified staff members for the 2025-26 school year:

  • LeShae Hann, Kamryn Graviett, Victoria Wittig, Sarah Seabaugh, John Erik Jenkins, Regina Merrell, Katelyn Jansen, Crystal Bentley, and Anna Wagner.

  • Kim Riley was offered a .25 FTE probationary contract.

  • Stephanie Hahn was offered a permanent contract for the 2025-26 school year.

  • Catherine Duncan was hired as a substitute nurse.
