Dear Kelso C-7 Families and Community Members,

The Kelso C-7 Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting on April 17, 2025. Below is a summary of key discussions and decisions from the meeting:


Board Business

The meeting was called to order by President Elizabeth Glastetter. A quorum was present. The agenda, minutes from the March 2025 meeting, current expenditures, and the treasurer’s report were all approved.


Celebrating Success

As part of the district’s “Two Minutes of Good,” teachers Michaella Gantz, Jaime Burger, Regina Merrell, and Tori Wittig shared recent classroom highlights and successes, celebrating the positive momentum across our school.


School Board Election Results

The Board certified the official results of the April 8, 2025 School Board Election. We are pleased to welcome Jim Eftink and Travis Dirnberger as the newest members of the Kelso C-7 Board of Education.


Facilities and Building Update

Superintendent Dr. Kim Burger provided an update on the building improvement process. The Board approved a proposal from McKinstry to move forward with the next phase of planned facility upgrades.


Policy Revisions

The Board approved the following updates:

  • Policy 5550

  • Regulation 2785

  • Allowability and Procurement Plan

  • These updates ensure continued compliance with state and federal regulations.


Health Insurance Selection

The Board approved the adoption of OSBA as the district’s health insurance provider for the 2025–2026 school year, following a review of plan options and cost comparisons.


Budget Amendments

Updated amendments to the 2024–2025 fiscal year budget were presented and approved.


Safety and Program Reviews

The Board received an overview of current school safety initiatives and reviewed program evaluations in the following areas:

  • Extracurricular Activities

  • Special Education

  • Federal Programs


Principal’s Report

Principal Debbie Lands provided updates on several ongoing efforts:

  • An increase in Positive Office Referrals recognizing student behavior and achievement.

  • Updates on Special Education programming and administrative coordination.


Superintendent’s Report

Dr. Burger presented the following district-wide updates:

  • Progress on the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) and the District Report Card.

  • Student participation in the National Beta Club Convention.

  • Financial and legislative updates affecting Missouri schools.

  • Upcoming plans for Teacher Appreciation Week.

  • Recent facility usage requests and planning.


Board Reorganization

Following the certification of election results, the Board of Education was reorganized for the 2025–2026 school year. Officer positions were confirmed as follows:

  • President: Elizabeth Glastetter

  • Vice President: Dustin Benson

  • Treasurer: Roy Buell

  • Board Secretary: Kristy Pobst (reappointed)

The Oath of Office was administered to Jim Eftink and Travis Dirnberger by Board Secretary Kristy Pobst.
