Community and Traditions
These two words are foundations of Kelso C-7 School. We do not run short of either. Today is not a serious tradition, but a tradition that our students love. If I’m honest, I do too.
It's Mr. Cluckle’s birthday. Who’s Mr. Cluckles? It's the chicken statue in the picture. A statue. You read that right.
It's a silly tradition that these ladies have not only carried on for YEARS, but now have recruited others to join in their fun. What started with our 83 students in the original building has now grown to 250 jellos eggs, dirt cake cups, tootsie rolls, and candy corn for any and all to enjoy.
The heart that drives the tradition and the community support behind all of this hoopla is what makes Mr. Cluckle’s birthday a day to anticipate and remember. Like so many events for our students, its not about the eggs, the desserts, or the decorations, it's about the joy it brings to our entire school family. These ladies love our kids BIG and love our community. Thanks to these ladies for carrying on a simple, fun tradition but all of you that work to make Kelso C-7 a great place to learn and grow together. We are thankful for each and every one of you!

Happy Veterans Day to all veterans and their families. We are so grateful and proud of each of you. We can't wait to celebrate and honor our veterans today!

Dear Kelso C-7 Parents,
We still need your help. Our district is reviewing our school improvement plan, where we take a look at the different areas of our district and look for things we are doing well, areas we need improvement, and planning for the future.
Our district is taking part in a pilot of a state survey from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the University of Missouri. The survey helps district measure the culture and climate through a series of brief questions.
Students will also be participating in the survey to help us gauge our progress from their point of view.
Once we collect all the data, we will analyze it and use it to help create our school improvement plan.
Here is the parent link for the survey: https://missouri.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eWDBrKoAtMm1TvM?RID=CGC_lJ2Y5IxXkyQ2QHB&Q_CHL=email

Breakfast Changes
As we are growing, we are adapting in many areas of our district. The most recent area is breakfast. The District will be having a dry breakfast moving forward, This will mean students receive cereal, granola bars, muffins, cheese sticks, paired with a fruit. The meals will still meet the nutritional requirements. The benefit for our families is that students will no longer have to sign up the night before.
We appreciate the understanding. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Friendly reminder : School Picture Day is tomorrow. Cheekwood will be at school to take individual, class, and volleyball pictures. Please send order forms complete with payment with your child. Volleyball players will need their uniforms to change into.

Change of Dates and Plans
Having our families and community members be a part of the education process is such an important piece of Kelso C-7 School. As our enrollment has increased over the past couple years, we have been forced to rethink how we host some of our community events to maximize our time with our visitors and the space we have to make it the best experience possible.
With that in mind, the school carnival has been rescheduled until January 19, 2023 - when the new gym and addition is complete. We will have more space AND visitors will get to be a part of one of the first events in the new gym.
KISS and Muffins in May has been revised as well. The district will be hosting a Lunch Bunch on April 6th in place of the two events. Students can invite up to two guests to have lunch with them. More details will be distributed closer to time.
We appreciate your understanding in the change of plans. Its truly an exciting time to be a Falcon.

Dear Kelso C-7 Families,
District administrators were alerted late this evening of a student threat of school violence. The statement was allegedly made two weeks ago. The Scott County Sheriff's Department is currently investigating the situation and will be onsite tomorrow morning for security purposes. Until the investigation is complete, the student that made the alleged threat will be not be on campus.
I am proud of our students and families that came to us out of concern for our students. Safety is a team effort and always our number one priority. We have the most precious commodities in our building that have been entrusted to us. It is a job that we take very seriously.
As always, if you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to reach out to us at school. Also, please know that this is sensitive and we cannot divulge some pieces of information due to privacy. We are here to listen and help how we can.
Thank you Kelso C-7 Family,
Dr. Kim Burger

Last night we had the privilege to honor another amazing set of Falcons at 8th grade night. We are so proud of these kiddos and can't wait to see what's ahead of them in their bright future. 💙🏐🏐💙
