Kelso C-7 School District

Now Enrolling Preschoolers for 2024-25! The Kelso C-7 Board of Education voted last night to move the preschool to the main campus for the 2024-25 school year. The program has spots remaining for any families that will have a 3 year old or 4 year old (by August 1). All students must be fully potty trained. Tuition is $32 per day for all days that Kelso C-7 is in session. This includes a certified teacher, breakfast, lunch, if enough students enroll, an additional paraprofessional, and an amazing first experience for our young Falcons. If any families are interested, please call the office at 573.545.3357 or email the preschool teacher, Crystal Bentley, at cbentley@kelsoc-7.k12.mo.us. To hold your child's spot, a $50 enrollment fee is required. Enrollment closes May 10th! Kelso C-7 family, help us spread the word by liking, sharing, and tagging families. HAPPY TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK!! To say WE LOVE OUR TEACHERS, really doesn't capture how we feel about our teachers! Kelso C-7 is beyond blessed by the best. They are caring. Dedicated. Hard working, Intelligent. Perseverant. Strong. Loving. Compassionate. Dynamic. We could go on all day!!! This week we celebrate all of our teachers-and by that-its ALL of our employees. We believe that everyone that works at Kelso C-7 is a teacher. Some teach our students math and reading. Some teach students the importance of a balanced meal. Some the value of safety. But all our "teachers" aim to teach our students the value that each student has inside them and in our hearts. We are grateful every day for our teachers, but this week, we are "camping out," taking a little extra time to celebrate our amazing group of teachers. Thank you to all of our Kelso C-7 teachers!! We appreciate each of you!

Good Afternoon. Today we were scheduled for our group pics for Beta, Art Club, Coding, FTA, and Pep Club. Due to our MAP testing schedules we had to postpone this until Tuesday, April 23. Please send your child with their appropriate club shirt for their picture. Thank you for understanding.

Kelso C7 will be dismissing at 230 today due to the threat of impending weather. Randy's bus will dismiss first, then car riders, then Ted's bus. This will give us a better chance of everyone being home before the potential severe weather hits

1st Ever Lunch Bunch/K.I.S.S. Day! Kids Invite Someone Special We are so excited to announce our first ever Kelso C-7 Lunch Bunch! Please join us Friday, May 10th for a picnic style lunch with your student(s). You may bring your student(s)lunch or they will be served a sack lunch from the school. Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged. The limit is two family members per family. If you are able to attend, please sign and return the bottom portion of the note that was sent home no later than April 17th. Only 1 forms is needed per family. Thank you!

Thursday, April 11 - Federal Programs and Kindergarten Signing Day (Enrollment) Federal Programs (Title I) will be meeting at 5:30 pm for their annual evaluation meeting. District and Student academic data will be shared, parents will have opportunities to provide input on district programs, and more! Kindergarten Signing Day is here!! Stock up for Summer Read - BOGO BOOK FAIR!! Yes, you read it correctly - By One Get One Book Fair is coming to Kelso C-7 and open for shopping Tuesday, April 30 from 11:00 to 1:30 and Thursday, May 2 from 11:00 to 1:30. Letters with the details will be coming to a backpack near you soon!!

The Board of Education will have their regular meeting Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 6:00 pm in the District Library area. The agenda is included in the attached images. As always, all are welcome and invited to attend.

FAMILY LITERACY NIGHT - TONIGHT Family Literacy Night is tonight from 6 - 7 pm. Come to read with your student(s) in their classroom(s), visit the Book Fair, and join the Middle School's Amazing Race! Preschool will be in the school gym to make it easier on our families to enjoy the night together at one place. Ms. Riley will have some extra books for our school preschool families. Literacy Week - NEXT WEEK - March 4 - March 8 We are excited for a fun week ahead for our Falcons - Literacy week! Monday: Dr. Seuss Day Students can dress as their favorite Dr. Seuss character. Tuesday: Exercise your brain with a good book. Students can dress in school appropriate workout attire. Wednesday: Color your world with reading and writing day. Grade levels dress according to their assigned color. Preschool Red Kindergarten Yellow 1st grade Orange 2nd grade Purple 3rd grade Green 4th grade Royal Blue 5th grade Light Blue 6th grade Navy Blue 7th grade Neon 8th grade White Support staff Pink Thursday: Dress your best for reading success. Students can dress in their best attire for Spring picture day. Friday: Rhyme without Reason Friends pair up with each other wearing costumes that rhyme but otherwise may have nothing else in common. For example: a cat and a bat, a dog and a frog, a dancer and Prancer (reindeer), a DJ and PJs, etc. There are tons of great ideas on Google. We can’t wait to see what you come up with! On Thursday, March 7th, families are invited to Family Reading Night. Students in grades Pre-K through 3 can get comfy with their families and read in their classrooms. The students who participate in AR will also be allowed to take AR tests. The class with the most participation will get a pajama pizza party for the entire class donated by Dr. Burger. The students in grades 4-8 will work in teams of four to compete in a literacy themed Amazing Race. The team that comes in first place will get to have a VIP lunch prepared by our amazing cooks! The book fair will also be set up during this week and families will be able to shop for books during Family Reading Night.

DINNER AUCTION PACKETS LAST CALL Dinner Auction Packets are due to be returned tomorrow with payment. If you have extra tickets, please return those as well. Our teachers are also assembling class baskets to raffle the night of the auction. If your family has any remaining items to send, please send them and/or notify the classroom teacher. Teachers will be putting them all together very soon! Thank you for your continued support!

School Communications Good morning Kelso C-7 Family, I appreciate all of your understanding as we worked to keep our school family safe this morning by means of a delay. We are in the middle of winter and with that comes tough calls like today and communicating these decisions to you as efficiently as possible. We understand the impact snow days and delays have on our families. Trying to make arrangements while balancing your own employment. Cancellations and delays are not one that we take lightly. We are protecting precious cargo.
