This semester we are taking time to "spotlight" our amazing group of faculty and staff! I am a little bit behind, so we will be sharing a couple of our fantastic employees per week.
Up this week: Mrs. Taylor Long
To help share the spotlight on them, feel free to share a favorite memory, thought, or just a shout-out to them in the social media comments. Thank you Mrs. Long for all you do to help our students learn and grow!

Just a friendly reminder we are dismissing at 2:00 pm today.
There is some uncertainty of the arrival of the storms. If you feel that picking up your child prior to the 2 pm time is best, we understand. We understand that everyone has to do what they feel is best within their schedule to keep their family safe.
If the storm would move in prior to the 2 pm dismissal and there is an active tornado warning during dismissal, we will hold students in the building. If a family is in the parking lot during a dismissal with a warning, please come to the far door for shelter.
Stay safe all!

Tonight's Board Meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 19th at 6 pm.

Good morning all!
As the weather moves in we will continue to watch the timing of it. Right now there is a window between 3 and 4 PM that the storms are expected to hit our area. This creates a problem of dismissal and buses being on the road during the peak of the storm.
To make sure all of our school family makes it home safely Kelso C7 will be dismissing at 2 PM today. Buses will run at that time. This ensures that not only our students but your families and faculty families make it to the safety of our homes and security of one another.
There will be no after school care.
Prayers for safety for all of our school family today.

The Kelso C-7 Board of Education for their regular monthly meeting tonight at 6:00 pm.

Inclement Weather Wednesday 4/13
Looking ahead to tomorrow we are in an elevated risk for inclement weather.
To ensure all of our families make it home safely there will be no afterschool care tomorrow (4/13) or after school activities, i.e. after school detentions.
In the case of hard rain during dismissal, we will revert back to a single car line dismissal, not walking kids through the parking lot but walking them out a couple families at a time as cars pull up.
If the area is under a tornado warning at the time of dismissal, we will not dismiss students at 3:10. We will hold all in the storm shelters at the far into the building. If you find yourself in the parking lot at the time of a tornado warning come to the far door for shelter inside the building.
We pray all the preparation is for nothing, but in the case of an event, we want to ensure we do all we can for the safety of our school family. Stay safe all!

Kelso C-7 Families,
This morning we received a phone call from the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, asking us to bring all students inside the building for preventative measures. There was an incident unfolding in the area, and for the protection of our children, we were asked to bring all students inside until further notice. This incident did not involve any of our students or families, and we were provided this information so that we could keep students safe during this time. We did have students outside at recess, so we quickly brought them in with the help of several of our staff.
We placed the school on a soft lockdown, with all outside doors locked and closed and students remaining inside the building. Students were allowed to continue on with their regular day, and were not confined to their classrooms.
About 30 minutes later, the Sheriff’s Department called back to tell us that we could resume our day as normal. We lifted the soft lockdown and students were allowed to go outside.
As always, we are thankful for the preventative measures and quick thinking of our local authorities, as well as our staff. If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

IN SESSION 2/25/22

As always, please give buses time to come to a complete stop before walking towards or in front of.
Please send back all homework completed to count for yesterdays AMI attendance.
See you all soon!

SNOW ROUTES 2/25/22
Good evening all.
Our school routes are semi-clear as of this afternoon. We are implementing snow routes for tomorrow morning. Our buses will not be traveling on the following roads: County Road 211, 213, 214, 216, 227, and 244, Leroy Drive, Cherry Street, Arlington. We will also not be traveling into the Kelso subdivision.
Teds Bus will travel up Highway A to the normal turnaround point, back Highway A and around to 61, down Highway 212, back to the highway and south on 61, Highway A, pass school, and out to 241 and back to return to school.
Randy's Bus will run to 61, through old PP, up and down Messmer, down 61 to return to school.
What does my family do if I live on one of the untraveled roads?
Please meet the buses at the end of the roads we are traveling. For example, if your family lives on Arlington Street, please meet the bus at the end of it where it meets Messmer. The subdivision would meet the bus at the end of Wisteria or Azalea Street. Essner's Custom Butchering has also agreed to be a pick up spot, if your family would like to meet the bus there.
I will be driving the routes again in the morning. I must stress the need for a childcare plan for your family just in case. There is a strong chance of refreezing and even more additional precipitation since I have driven the roads. In that case, we will transition to an AMI day. I hope to have my decision made no later than 6 am.
Thanks for all of your help and understanding through our many weather days,
Dr. Burger
